Shopping and Dining

When the shopping bug hits, the SanTan Village is located in Gilbert, and entices shoppers with major retailers including Best Buy, Dillard’s, Macy’s, Sephora, White House Black Market, and many more.

Just like any major city, Gilbert has an array of restaurants including independent local eateries and familiar, national restaurateurs. Options include Romeo’s Euro Café, Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill, Pei Wei Asian Diner, NYPD Pizza, and more.

Parks and Recreation

The scenic Southwest environment allows for some very unique parks in this area. For example, the Riparian Preserve (with over 200 bird species and 4.5 miles of walking trails) was originally “designed to utilize recycled water to create community wetland wildlife sanctuaries for recreation, education, and research.” Well, legal speak certainly doesn’t do justice to this park – it’s a naturalists dream!

There are a handful of local museums in town including the Gilbert Historical Society and the Heard Museum of Anthropology and Primitive Arts. Gilbert residents also love art and culture, and downtown Gilbert draws them to the Hale Centre Theatre and to several local art galleries.

Living

The median home price in Gilbert is just shy of $170,000. The majority of homes were built in the late 1990s. Gilbert is comprises only six different neighborhoods, the most popular of them being Anchor Point at Val Vista Lakes and San Tan Ranch.

Schools, Health, Transportation

Gilbert Public Schools look to employ educators who are keen to improve their teaching methods and standards. Among its distinctions, Desert Ridge High School is one of a small number of schools to offer a national pre-engineering program, called Project Lead the Way (PLTW) which prepares high school students with a strong emphasis on college math and science sequences.

Besides being a safe town with great parks and schools, Gilbert also enjoys a strong set of health care providers and options. There are eight area hospitals including Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, Gilbert Emergency Hospital, and the three different Banner Medical Centers.

To move in and out of Gilbert, drivers use Loop 101, Loop 202, U.S. Route 60, and State Route 87.
